Sweet Swan of Avon is English Serenata's extravaganza on Shakespeare and England, broadcast on prime time Saturday night Czech TV (with Czech sub-titles)! John Nettles was the narrator on this occasion, telling the story of theatre and town life in the market town of Stratford-upon-Avon from Shakespeare's birth to present day performances of the Royal Shakespeare Company. The CD of the music has also received high acclaim. Songs and interlude music for the theatre and for the great Stratford Jubilee by British composers are interspersed with words by the bard himself and amusing anecdotes, narrated by a leading actor from the RSC.
